The event marked the beginning of a yearlong collaboration, Bordeaux-LA 2014, in celebration of the enduring French-American friendship and provided an exceptional opportunity to shine a spotlight on Los Angeles as a center of arts and culture in the 21st Century. At the same time, by hosting Bordeaux based artists and scholars in Los Angeles, Sister Cities highlights the creative vitality of Bordeaux, cementing and deepening our bond for years to come. The 50th Anniversary celebration puts a spotlight on Los Angeles’ diverse arts institutions and promotes cultural tourism through the many tent pole events taking place throughout the year.

To help raise funds for the 2014 celebration of the 50 year partnership between Los Angeles and Bordeaux, Cheech Marin donated a limited-edition portfolio, printed by Richard Duardo, from The Chicano Collection / La Colección Chicana being sold during the LA Art Show. Proceeds from this sale will go to Sister Cities of Los Angeles, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support this yearlong cultural exchange. In keeping with the show’s commitment to and celebration of high-caliber art and design, the LA Art Show is pleased to welcome celebrated interior designer James Magni as the 2014 VIP Lounge Designer. The VIP lounge, a haven for collectors, and art professionals is re-designed each year to showcase a contemporary interpretation of the marriage of art and design. In keeping with Magni’s signature modernist approach, the interior designer and author of Magni Modernism, will transform the exclusive lounge space into a sleek and sophisticated retreat for high-end collectors and celebrities.

The LA Art Show takes place from January 15 – 19, 2014 concurrently with the Los Angeles Jewelry, Antique & Design Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center, South Hall 1201 Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015.
